In a heartbreaking incident, 25-year-old Guntipalli Sowmya from Yadagaripalle village, Telangana, was fatally struck by a speeding car while crossing a road in Florida on May 26. Sowmya had been pursuing a master’s degree at Florida Atlantic University for the past two years and had recently graduated.
Sowmya succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Friends have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support her family financially. The fundraiser highlights Sowmya’s aspirations to alleviate her family’s financial burdens and repay her student loans, ambitions cut short by the tragic accident.
“This campaign aims to honor Sowmya’s unfulfilled aspirations by helping her family during this difficult time. Your contribution will support her family financially during this crisis and help cover her outstanding student loans,” the GoFundMe page reads.
Sowmya’s parents, Koteshwara Rao and Balamani, are devastated by their daughter’s untimely demise. Rao, a former CRPF personnel who now runs a general store, has appealed to the government for help in repatriating Sowmya’s body to Telangana. The family recalls celebrating her recent 25th birthday, making the loss even more poignant.
